The Birth of the Huma
If a person was to look up into the sky whilst a Huma was coming into
the world, they would see aa golden egg falling from above. They would,
if they were sensible, move out of the way as they would be forgiven for
thinking that the egg was about to splatter across the ground.
However, as it falls, an observant person would see that cracks were
appearing in the golden shell, and those with outstanding eyesight may
also observe a small beak peaking its way from within the egg.
As the egg continues to plummet towards the ground, a small,
bedraggled little fledgling will push itself from the egg and to the horror of
any observers, will hurtle towards the ground. Only a callous observer
would fail to be moved by the sight of a small chick tumbling head over
heels through the air. The chick’s eyes would then open, and it would
also become aware of its own predicament which must be a terrifying
view or the ground getting closer and closer.
Miraculously, beautiful long and colourful feathers would be seen
sprouting from the chick until finally, before the chick hits the ground, it
shrieks out and soars into the air towards the safety of its parent. In
some tales, the Huma bird is said to be both male and female, showing
the two different natures inside one body.
It is a terrifying start to life for a bird that will never once touch solid
ground within its life time.
